Custom Trex Deck and Staircase with Built-In Outdoor Lighting

A lot of homeowners want a backyard space they can actually use - not just look at. The problem is most decks either look great during the day or feel completely dead after dark. We wanted to solve both of those things here.

This was a full custom Trex composite deck and staircase build. The deck itself has a really clean, modern shape with a slightly angled fascia edge that gives it a finished, intentional look. No rough cuts, no exposed framing - everything is wrapped and tight. The composite decking runs in a consistent direction, and the stairs are wide and inviting, built to actually be used.

The part we love most about this one is the lighting. We ran recessed step lights into every riser on the staircase, and they're evenly spaced across each step. At night, the whole staircase glows in a way that's both practical and genuinely good-looking. You're not fumbling around in the dark, and it doesn't look like an afterthought.

Trex composite is our go-to for a reason. It holds up in the Pacific Northwest climate without the warping, splitting, or constant sealing that comes with traditional wood.
